Ok well still recovering after a marathon that I wanted to do better at. It started out really well I was ahead of the 3:10 pace group for 13 miles. I started to feel really good at my 1:31 half time and from there I started to get a really hot spot on my inside foot. Well the further I went the more I started to realize that I was getting a blister and it was going to be a big one. I got to mile 20 and I looked at my right shoe and it was no longer White. My shoe was Red and was caused from the blister breaking and I was bleeding pretty good. Well I started to think that I never get blisters on the inside of my foot and I could feel the pain like no other coming on on every little turn or movement of my foot. I then realized that I made a mistake and one that I know better. I was given a free pair of socks from a friend at a running store and these socks were like wearing no socks really light and almost see through. My foot was rubbing on the side of my shoe that caused this mess and I began to watch that 3:15 time I was shooting for slip away from me. Now it was just get to the finish and I did just that and finished at 3:25:08. I am happy with the time and it was not my day for sure but will learn from my mistake on changing socks. Great job Matt and others that PR'd this should have been my race and I can not hang my head low because I am not a fast runner, but have knocked off 1 hour and 5 minutes off my very first marathon. |
